Jennifer with her daughter Madison Jennifer began her work with Clare House in 2002. During Jennifer’s tenure, Clare House has seen tremendous growth and development; she credits that success to the dedication and commitment of the community to Clare House’s mission. Jennifer is a graduate of Millersville University with a degree in Sociology and has a certificate in Non-Profit Management. Jennifer also holds the designation of Certified Fundraising Executive, a professional certification of proficiency, practice and mastery of fundraising principles and techniques based on accepted best practices. The designation is an endorsement of knowledge and experience against international standards of philanthropy. A graduate of Leadership Lancaster and Project Blueprint; active in the community, Jennifer serves as a member of the Health Advisory Board of The Community Action Program, Lancaster General Hospital Mission and Community Benefit Committee and Leadership Lancaster’s Fund Development, Program and Selections Committees. Jennifer is a Board member of Bright Side Opportunities Center, Leadership Lancaster, Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania, and the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.

Jennifer is most proud of her two children, Marcus and Madison and enjoys being involved with their extra curricular activities. She is committed to the mission of Clare House and feels it is a privilege to be able to encourage and support so many women and children each day.



Breck Artz, Case Manager

Breck ArtzBreck has been involved with the non-profit/social service realm both as a professional and volunteer for the last 20 years. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Juvenile Justice, and a minor in Sociology. Since graduation, she has held various positions within the non-profit world both in Lancaster and York Counties. These positions has helped mold Breck into the dedicated and well-rounded professional that she is. Breck is dedicated to the health and well-being of all individuals, both young and old, which is evident both in her work and volunteer opportunities she partakes in. In 2004, Breck moved to California to serve in AmeriCorps (national volunteer service) to be an Academic Mentor for an alternative middle and high school located in Eureka, California. This experience led her to decide to go back to school and complete her Master’s degree. Breck graduated with honors in December, 2007 with a Master’s degree in Child, Youth and Family Studies with a specialization in Youth Development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her love of volunteering has been incorporated in her daily life and with those teens she works with at Otterbein United Methodist Church as their Coordinator of Youth. Breck enjoys spending time with her family, which means the world to her. She is the proud mom of two cats Sebastian and Reesie and her dog Taiyhia.



Shannon Bower, Program Coordinator

Shannon's duties as Program Coordinator include facilitating all non-direct service programmatic components like educational and life-skills programs, volunteer management and item donation coordination. In addition, Shannon assists with the Jazz Fest and helps to ensure smooth operations of the shelter facilities. Shannon received her BA in Psychology from Millersville University and graduated with honors. She is also a member of Psi Chi, a nationally recognized academic honor society in Psychology.

Shannon enjoys spending her free time reading, relaxing with her husband, Scott, and playing with their two cats, Max and Magoo. She chooses to support Clare House because she has a strong desire to help others, and feels that her organizational skills and psychology background are a good fit for the shelter. Shannon is amazed by the strength and gratitude of the women and children at Clare House and feels very fortunate to be a part of their journey to self-sufficiency.
